Program #163: 1/11/89 Part VI

Part VI of the session from January 11, 1989 at Ephraim’s Restaurant in Sudbury, MA, with Jimmy Mazzy (banjo/vocals), Fred Lind (cornet), Paul Meymaris (clarinet), John Kafalas (alto trombone), Bill Whitcraft (piano), and Hans Brack (bass). The selections are “Louisiana Fairytale,” “Chicago,” and a blues I’m not sure of the name of. I recently learned that in 1937, Bill turned down an offer to go on the road with Woody Herman. Bill later attended Harvard and played piano with Leonard Bernstein on occasion.
