Part I of the session from January 11, 1989. It’s actually from the second set, however, because it’s Tape 2 from that evening. The first tape from January 11th has gone missing, although I probably have it somewhere. In any case, the musicians in this program are Jimmy Mazzy on banjo and vocals, Fred Lind on cornet, Dr. Paul Meymaris on clarinet, myself John Kafalas on trombone, Carol Moeller and Don Frothingham on piano, and I think that’s Hans Brack on bass. I think I’m playing alto trombone, which I had just started playing in early 1989. The selections are, Sittin’ on Top of the World, Georgia On My Mind, and Them There Eyes. Carol Moeller plays the first song, then turns the Steinway over to Don for the remainder of the program. Send questions or comments to podcast @ kafalas.com.
