Podcast #10: Special Guests – Jack Webb Jazz Band, Flagstaff, AZ

This program features a special guest band: the Jack Webb New Orleans Jazz Band, from Flagstaff, Arizona, in a 15-minute set recorded on July 22, 2000. The band is led by Prof. Guy Senese, who plays cornet and is joined by Ron Dewar (reeds), John Sexton (trombone), Mike Miller (banjo), Scott Mordecai (drums), and John Kafalas (tuba).

Podcast #8: Still more music from 11/30/88

What can I say? November 30th, 1988 was a great session, so you’re going to hear more of it. This program has the same personnel as #7, except that Carol Moeller plays piano for the first two numbers, with Don Frothingham taking his turn at the Steinway for the last tune. Please send any questions or comments to mailbag@kafalas.com.

Podcast #7: Additional music from 11/30/88 at Ephraim’s

This is a 20-minute program with the same personnel featured in our last podcast: Jimmy Mazzy (banjo/vocals), Fred Lind (cornet), Paul Meymaris (clarinet), John Kafalas (trombone), Bill Whitcraft (piano), Hans Brack (bass), and Stu Grover (drums). Selections include “Of All the Wrongs You’ve Done to Me,” “You’re Driving Me Crazy,” and “Cabin in the Pine.”

These podcasts are produced by John Kafalas — “produced” in that I’m the one who brought a tape deck to the sessions and finally got around to digitizing and editing the material.  If you have any questions, comments, brickbats, or other feedback, please drop me a line at mailbag@kafalas.com.
