Part I of the session from January 11, 1989. It’s actually from the second set, however, because it’s Tape 2 from that evening. I think I’m playing alto trombone, which I had just started playing in early 1989. The selections are, Sittin’ on Top of the World, Georgia On My Mind, and Them There Eyes. Carol Moeller plays the first song, then turns the Steinway over to Don for the remainder of the program. Send questions or comments to podcast @ kafalas.com.

There’s a slight break in the last tune, cutting off Jim’s vocal — that’s because the tape ran out, and I had to flip it over and start recording on the other side – sorry about the break, but it’s a great song, so I thought it was worth including. The musicians are Stan McDonald (soprano sax and clarinet), Walt Miller (trumpet), John Kafalas (trombone and euphonium), Phil Hower (piano), John Rayworth (banjo), Hans Brack (bass), and Stu Grover (drums).
