This program contains some more material recorded June 29th, 1988 and features Jimmy Mazzy (banjo/vocals), Carol Moeller (piano), Fred Lind (cornet), Paul Meymaris (clarinet), John Kafalas (trombone), Stu Grover (drums), Steve Pratt (bass), and Carrie Mazzy (vocals). The selections are “Sittin’ On Top of the World,” an old tune I don’t quite recognize, “Jazzbo Brown from Memphis Town,” and “Just a Closer Walk.”
This program was recorded June 29th, 1988 and features Jimmy Mazzy (banjo/vocals), Carol Moeller (piano), Fred Lind (cornet), Paul Meymaris (clarinet), John Kafalas (trombone), Stu Grover (drums) and I’m not quite certain, but I think Steve Pratt is on bass. The selections are Carol’s original “Early Black,” followed by “Moose March” and “WPA Blues.”
This podcast departs from our regular programming to present some rare recordings by Tommy Turk, a trombonist who was one of the best but who has faded into relative obscurity. I don’t know the other musicians on these recordings, nor do I know where they were made, but I think they are from 1949. If you have any additional information, please let me know!
This program continues to feature Michael “Moishe” Feldman on piano and Bill Payne on banjo and vocals. Besides Moishe and Bill, the band consists of the usual suspects: Jimmy Mazzy (banjo and vocals), Fred Lind (cornet), Paul Meymaris (clarinet), John Kafalas (tuba), and Stu Grover (drums).
This program features Michael “Moishe” Feldman on piano, as well as Bill Whitcraft, also on piano. In addition, we’re joined by Bill Payne, who offers some fine vocal work as well as his percussive banjo playing.

The hits just kept on coming, back on May 10th, 1989 — so we’re presenting our fifth straight program from that session. This installment starts off with “Honeysuckle Rose,” featuring Carol Moeller on piano, and continues with “Ain’t Misbehaving,” with Don Frothingham. The session concludes with “Lonesome Road Blues.” The other musicians are Jimmy Mazzy (banjo/vocals), Fred Lind (cornet), Paul Meymaris (clarinet), and John Kafalas (tuba).
